Attend The TACC Virtual 2020 Community Appreciation Awards Ceremony

Just like everything else, the annual 2020 Community Appreciation Awards Ceremony hosted by the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce will look a little different this year, but yes, the show will go on! Instead of hosting an in-person dinner and awards ceremony, the Chamber will be taking nominations and holding an event at the Chamber Office to recognize the award recipients. Only the award recipients will be accepting their awards in person, but you can attend, support, and recognize them via a live stream event on the TACC Facebook page! (You can view and sign up to attend this event HERE!)

Here is the press release the Chamber put out regarding the event for this year and all the details.  Please review all of the information and make yourself a “Save The Date” note for October 22nd!

2020 Community Appreciation Awards Ceremony: COVID-19 Edition

Ticonderoga, NY – September 14, 2020 – The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) will host their Annual Community Appreciation Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 6:00 PM but it will look much different this year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Typically, a free dinner and awards ceremony takes place as a way to show the Chamber’s appreciation of all area volunteers, businesses, organizations and committees. While the actual dinner will not take place in 2020, nominations for awards are still being accepted and an event will be held at the Chamber Office recognizing the award recipients (the event will be the Chamber Team and Award Recipients only). The awards ceremony will be live streamed on the TACC facebook page.

The Chamber will recognize all area businesses, organizations, and volunteers as well as the 2020 “Business of the Year,” “Organization/Non-Profit of the Year,” “Chamber Volunteer of the Year,” “Community Volunteer of the Year,” and give out TACC Appreciation Awards. In 2019, awards were given to certain individuals, businesses, organizations, and committees who not only support the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce, but give themselves for the betterment of the Ticonderoga Area and the community as a whole.

Nominations for the 2020 Business of the Year, Organization/Non-Profit of the Year, Chamber Volunteer of the Year, and Community Volunteer of the Year, as well as TACC Appreciation Awards are now being accepted. Nomination forms are available at the Chamber office located at 94 Montcalm Street in downtown Ticonderoga or at www.ticonderogany.com.  Forms can also be requested via email. Nominations must be received by October 16, 2020 by 12:00 PM (noon). Award recipients will be contacted that afternoon to be scheduled to come to the Chamber Office on October 22nd

“This community appreciation event is to honor those individuals, businesses, organizations and committees who work so diligently to provide an array of opportunities and growth for the Ticonderoga area throughout the year. Without the dedication, drive, and true spirit of volunteerism and the commitment of the businesses and organizations within the area so many initiatives, events, and projects would not be possible. A big thank you to Theresa Abare who volunteers each year to help coordinate this event and all of our past sponsors. Theresa gets a year off due to the actual dinner not taking place and we hope she will be back next year to help us coordinate,” stated Matthew Courtright – President & CEO, Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce.

At last year’s event, the recipient of the Business of the Year award was The Candy Corner/Bodette’s Barbecue, Organization of the Year was awarded to the Ticonderoga Heritage Museum, Chamber Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Anthony Anselmo, and the Community Volunteer of the Year award was given to Marry Cunningham.

TACC Appreciation Awards were given to Crown Point Volunteer Fire Department, Porky Lamb and the Hometown Heroes Committee, Ticonderoga Central School Music Department, Maddens Pub, Mark & Laura Wright, Jill Cunningham, Carol & Rick Ramundo, Century 21 Adirondacks, Erik Leerkes, Marla Irwin, and Alice Dezalia. A special recognition award was given to outgoing TACC Board Chair Shana Macey.

Submit your award nominations to the Chamber office by emailing [email protected] or dropping them off to 94 Montcalm Street, Suite 1. Nominations ballots can be found at the Chamber Office or www.ticonderogany.com.
