The Lake George Land Conservancy is an accredited not-for-profit land trust that has been working to protect the land that protects the lake since 1988. For 30 years, we have been dedicated to working with willing landowners and other partners to protect the world-renowned water quality of Lake George and to permanently preserve the natural, scenic, historical and recreational resources of the Lake George region. The LGLC’s land protection program has worked directly and with partners to permanently protect more than 10,900 acres of Lake George wilderness and 6.6 miles of lake shoreline, and owns and/or manages 22 parks and preserves that are open to the public year-round, by special request or with restricted access, with over 37 miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and hunting. The LGLC also offers public hikes and programs year-round, including the annual Lake George Hike-A-Thon; enhances its trails with educational signage and materials; engages in public speaking opportunities; and works within communities throughout the watershed to develop and promote recreational and educational resources. As a non-profit land trust our work depends on the generosity and passion of people who love Lake George and want it to remain as clean and beautiful as it is today for their children and future generations. Supporters volunteer time, donate money or land, participate in activities, and spread the word about our work, all of which help to further our mission of protecting the land that protects the lake.
